Melasma vs. Hyperpigmentation: What's the Difference?

I explain how melasma appears as reticulated hyperpigmented patches with a lace-like pattern, typically on the cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and neck. I contrast this with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), which presents as well-demarcated areas of pigmentation in places where there was previous trauma, such as acne scars or improperly done laser treatments. #melasma      #hyperpigmentation    #dark spots    #sunspots
